Dear Accounting Society Members, 

       Hello everyone, we hope you are staying warm during this cold weekend! Big shout out to everyone who attended the Pajama Walk. We hoped you had lots of fun. On Tuesday, we will have our second General Interest Meeting in room 10-150 NVC. Come learn more about the Accounting Society and what we stand for. On Thursday, we have our first social of the semester in room 10-155 NVC. We have plenty of games planned for you guys. Lastly, good luck to those that have midterms coming up. Study hard!
        As always, thank you for all the support you have shown us. We have tons of exciting events lined up for you guys this semester so please like our Facebook Page to get the most updated room numbers and check back on our upcoming newsletters. To become an inducted member, you have to satisfy the following requirements (You have two consecutive semesters to fulfill these requirements):
  • 5 Corporate Events
  • 2 General Interest Meetings
  • 2 Volunteer Events
Upcoming Events
1) General Interest Meeting #2 - 10/17
12:40pm - 2:20pm
Location: 10-150 NVC

(This event will count towards GIM Credit)
Join us in our second general interest meeting of the semester. Come meet our board members and learn more about upcoming events and opportunities within our club.

2) Social #1 - 10/19
(This event will count towards GIM Credit)
12:40pm - 2:20pm
Location: 10-155 NVC

Come to our first Social of the semester. We will have lots of fun and games planned for you guys. Relax and grab something to eat while getting to know other members and the Executive Board better!

3) New York Cares Day - 10/21
9:30am - 2:00pm
Location: PS 325 K The Fresh Creek School - Brooklyn, NY

(This event will count towards Volunteer Credit)
On New York Cares Day for Schools 2017, thousands of New Yorkers will work in more than 35 schools to paint classrooms, restore playground areas, and demonstrate that an entire city is committed to its students. We've kicked off our campaign to fund our high-impact, year-round education programs that serve 30,000 NYC kids and teens. Sign up for this event has ended.

4) CohnReznick Mid-Size Advantage - 10/24
12:40pm - 2:20pm
Location: 10-150 NVC

(This event will count towards Corporate Event Credit)
Attend this event to learn more about CohnReznick and the firm's culture. Professionals from CohnReznick will talk about the perks and advantages of working for a mid-size firm.
5) RSM Office Visit - 10/26
12:30pm - 2:00pm
Location: RSM Office

(This event will count towards Corporate Event Credit)
Explore RSM's culture, learn about student opportunities at the firm, and enjoy the office tour.  Sign up has ended for this event.

6) Mentorship Event - 10/31
12:40pm - 2:20pm
Location: 9-155 NVC

(This event will count towards Corporate Event Credit)
Sit down with a professional from a Big 4 firm, a Mid-Size firm, or big bank for a 30 minute one-on-one session! Sign up has reached max capacity. Those that have been accepted will hear back from Gabby, our Executive Vice President shortly.

7) Accounting Game Plan - 11/2
12:40pm - 2:20pm
Location: 10-155 NVC

(This event will count towards Corporate Event Credit)
As accounting majors, it is super important to plan your schedule ahead or else you will risk falling behind. Come join us as Executive Board members help you map out your accounting game plan and tips on what classes you should take.

8) Pajama Program Reading Party - 11/3
11:00am - 12:00pm
Location: 114 East 39th Street, NY, NY 10016 Ground Floor

(This event will count towards Volunteer Credit)
Come join the Accounting Society at the Pajama Program Reading Party to make a difference in the lives of children! Each volunteer will be paired with a child to read together and the children will receive new pajamas and books. Sign up for this event will end on Sunday, October 29th at 11:59pm. Sign up here!
General Interest Meeting #2
Tuesday, October 17th | 12:40PM - 2:20PM | Location: 10-150 NVC
Join us at our second General Interest Meeting to learn about the Accounting Society's mission, upcoming events, requirements to become a member, and opportunities within the club!

Baruch Accounting Society Social #1
Thursday, October 19th | 12:40PM - 2:20PM | Location: 10-155 NVC
We will have our first social of the semester. Join us for some fun and games and unwind from a long week of midterms! Get a chance to connect with the Executive Board and other Accounting Society members.

New York Cares Day
Saturday, October 21st | 9:30AM - 2:00PM | Location: PS 325 K
The Fresh Creek School, Brooklyn, NY

RSM Office Visit
Thursday, October 26th | 12:30PM - 2:00PM | Location: RSM Office
Take a trip to RSM's office. Come explore RSM's culture, learn more about their internship and full time opportunities, and enjoy the office tour. See what it's like working at a midsize firm! Spots will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Accounting Society Selfie Challenge
Deadline: Once the first submission is received!

Objective: Take a selfie with each of the 11 E-Board members. The first person to submit all of their pictures (having followed all the rules) will get a prize! Once you have your 11 pictures, please submit your pictures to [email protected].

1. All pictures must be taken on campus.
2. 1 creative picture (silly face!)
3. You can take a selfie with only 2 E-Board members per event.
4. You can take a selfie with only 1 E-Board member in the club room, 3-239. 
5. You must introduce yourself, and ask the board member if you can take a selfie with them.
6. 2 Selfie(s) can be substituted with a fun fact given & signed by the E-Board member. Please submit a picture of the fun fact and signature along with the rest of the photos.

***Important: You are limited to only 3 selfies a day.***

Good luck! This contest will end once the first submission is received.

Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

Every Fall, UCLA celebrates the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival (中秋节), a holiday that emphasizes the importance of unity between family and friends, by bringing the event right to our campus. There will be performers from across the city, fun games and activities, and tons of food!

Diversity Pipeline Career Programs Panel & Networking Event
Tuesday, October 24th | 12:30PM - 2:00PM | Location: 14-220 NVC
Join STARR (in collaboration with SEEK, Success Network & Urban Male Leadership Academy) in their Diversity Pipeline Career event! This event hosts amazing leadership & career training programs including INROADS, MLT, T-Howard, SEO and more. The program representatives will speak about their organizations and then students will have the opportunity to network with them once the panel has concluded.

Amazon Finance Diversity Leadership Summit
Deadline: Friday, October 20th

Amazon Finance is launching a leadership summit for underrepresented students on November 9th and November 10th.  Sophomores and juniors majoring in finance or business related majors will learn about the Amazon culture. In addition, we will provide technical and professional development training too. Lastly, participants will have the opportunity to interview for the 2018 Finance Summer Internship Program. Below you will find the link for students to apply. Deadline to submit their application is Friday, October 20th.
